Fun with Shapes 1

I wrote this tutorial on April 10, 2007, using PSP 9, but it can be completed in most versions.
Tutorials are only guidelines, it's always fun to experiment with different settings on your own : )
This tutorial is Easy Peasy!
I like to try weird things with the shapes in PSP, I have a ball doing it and I hope you do too!
Tools we will be using:
Symmetric Shape Tool (star)
Objection Selection Tool
Step 1:
Create a new raster file (file > new) 365x365, white background.
Step 2:
Grab your Symmetric Shape tool, or press the lower case 'h' to activate it, and
plug in the below settings:
Create On Vector: checked, Number of sides: 48, Radius: 25, Round Inner & Outer: checked

Step 3:
Go to your Materials Palette and change the Foreground/Stroke to null (transparent),
and the Background/Fill to black. We will use black for now, but because these
are vector shapes, you will be able to change the fill to a different color or pattern later.
Step 4:
Draw out your shape; starting at the top left of your canvas, click and hold your left
mouse button and pull down toward the bottom right of the canvas.
This is what you should have at this point:

Pretty cool right? Sure beats adding &/or rotating all those circles to get a scalloped edge, lol.
Step 4b:
On the one below, I duplicated the above layer and resized it a bit smaller.
Then on the original (bottom) layer, I doubled clicked on it with the Object Selection tool
,
and changed the Background/Fill to null (transparent), Foreground/Stroke to black with
a solid stroke width of 3.75, keeping all other settings the same. Kind of has a 'lace' look.
Center your shapes by going up to Objects > Align > Center in canvas.

~ The amount of 'lace' that shows will depend on the size of your top (duplicate) layer ~
Step 5:
Another fun shape.
Add a new Vector layer, then go to Selections > Select none.
(We do this to ensure that the first shape you made is deselected)
Go to the Tool Options Palette for the star shape and uncheck the 'Round Outer' box.
We only want the Round Inner box checked for this one, all other settings stay the same.
Now draw out another shape like we did above, and this is what you should have:

Step 6:
Let's try another one. Add a new Vector layer, then go to Selections > Select none.
Back to the Tool Options Palette and change the Number of sides to 65, Radius to 63,
and check both Round Inner and Round Outer. Draw out another shape.
This is what you should have now:

Another cool shape, just think what this one will look like with one of your favorite effects applied to it.
Step 7:
For this last one, I just changed the Radius to 63, keeping all other settings as above.
This one is similar to our first one, but the scallops are smaller.

Ok, I could go on forever, but I think I better stop now, lol. I hope I showed you some new tricks.
Now go and do something crazy with your shapes, I'll bet your results will be inspiring!

Thanks for stopping by and trying out my tutorials; I would love to see your final results.
